Three reasons you should buy organic products....
Clean 15:
1.Avocados
2.Sweet Corn
3.Pineapples
4.Cabbage
5.Sweet Peas (Frozen)
6.Onions
7.Asparagus
8.Mangoes
9.Papayas
10.Kiwi
1) Cut back on chemicals — Many herbicides and insecticides commonly used in agriculture have been found to be carcinogenic,
hormone replicators, or negative for children’s development. Choosing organic has been shown to significantly reduce your
exposure to chemical residues.
2) Organic food tastes great — It’s common sense: healthy soils produce strong, healthy plants that become nourishing food for
people and animals.
3) Organic is the only non-GMO standard overseen by the Canadian government — organic standards forbid the use of GMOs in
seeds, in animal feed, and in the ingredients of processed organic food and products.
Below is a list of the "Clean 15" and the "Dirty Dozen" . Even though there is a clean 15 list, I always recommend buying organic produce. The dirty dozen however should always be purchased organic whenever possible from the grocery store.
Some reports have been published by lobbyists to confuse the general public on the subject of organic. These reports say that the nutrient quality of a non-organic and organic produce is the same. This may be due to reasons mentioned in our future post "Shocking Report on Foods You Buy" where the soil nutrient quality is depleted. However, considering that one contains toxic and cancer causing pesticides and possible GMO properties (non-organic) and the other (organic) does not contain the properties that are harmful or toxic. If both are grown in nutrient dense soil, the nutrient quality will most likely remain the same but the exposure to toxic and harmful chemicals will be different. Also, non-organic food and products contain GMO properties and this is and should be the concern as well.
