How Good Nutrition Is The Key!

I found this great article about Gary Roberts (a former NHL hockey player) and his nutrition and training regimen. Again you will see what a vital role nutrition plays in your health and wellbeing as professional athlete figure out the key to success is not just training but nutrition. Read this article below from the Toronto Globe and Mail.

'Scary Gary' Roberts becomes diet guru for young NHLers
By JAMES MIRTLE
From Monday's Globe and Mail

A radical change in nutrition turned around Gary Roberts's hockey career; now he's passing on his secrets to young players

Philadelphia Flyers prospect Brayden Schenn was standing in his local grocery store recently, uncertain of what he could buy to fit in with his radical new training regimen this off-season.

So he snapped a picture of a questionable deli meat with his smart phone, sent it off to a Toronto-area number and added a brief message: "Can I eat this?"
Which is when Gary Roberts, hockey's diet guru, leapt into action.

"I spend half my time on the phone - that's the kind of texts I receive," Mr. Roberts said. "Can I eat these cold cuts? Can I eat these beans? It's pretty funny."

Since his retirement from the NHL two years ago, the 45-year-old Mr. Roberts has become almost legendary for his ability to train and pump up young prospects. His first disciple, Tampa Bay Lightning star Steven Stamkos, is the perfect example: He added 15 pounds of muscle after his rookie season and led the league in goals with 51 as a sophomore.

Ever since, players have been lining up at Mr. Roberts's door - 42 pro-level players are training with him this summer - but few realize that the most extreme part of his strategy involves the kitchen instead of the gym.

How To Slow Aging

How to get great looking hair, skin and nails!
I am going to share some secrets I have discovered about how to look younger, feel younger, and have that youthful vigor everyone desires. I am sure you have heard some of what I am about to tell you before but if not, most likely it was poorly explained, went over your head, or you just didn’t care to know. I want you to know you really can look and feel younger and it isn’t that difficult. Looking and feeling younger is addressed internally and externally and I am going to explain how you can easily look and feel as much as 10 years or more younger with a few simple suggestions. Now this is not going to happen overnight and there is no magic pill or potion, so if you are a weak person and haven’t the ability to be motivated to better the quality of your life then this may not be of interest and you should be seeking other counseling. This isn’t about being selfish or conceded and the need for acceptance or any excessive self-indulgent emotion, it is about achieving happiness, wellbeing and lifelong vigor.

First and foremost you must understand the importance of the adrenals. What am I talking about you ask? Well the adrenal glands produce hormones that help our body adapt to stressful conditions. These hormones help improve oxygen and glucose supply to the muscle, but during stressful conditions the blood thickens to help heal wounds. Tea, coffee, chocolate and cigarette smoking will have the same negative effect on the body by increasing stress and speeding up the aging process.

Your skin’s health is really a great indicator of your body’s health. Eating a diet of untreated, antioxidant rich foods would benefit your skin’s health immensely. Nutrients from these foods and other supplements are important at every stage of your skin’s development. Collagen is formed when Vitamin C is converts the amino acid proline into hydroxyproline. Not only is vitamin C essential, the skin requires vitamin A, Vitamin B6, Niacin, biotin, magnesium, and zinc. Omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids are also very important and you can supplement with flax oil, evening primrose oil, and borage seed oil. These oils should be cold pressed.

Here is a juicing recipe I have found that may help you improve your skin’s appearance.

Remember...Organic whenever possible!

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT COCONUT WATER

Coconut water label claims questioned ....only Zico contained the stated amount of ingredients!
Coconut water, which came to fame as a celebrity health fad, has become an increasingly popular way to stay hydrated or recover after a workout.
Filled with electrolytes like sodium and magnesium, the slightly sweet water has come to be seen as a natural alternative to sports drinks like Gatorade.
That reputation may not be entirely deserved. According to a report released today by an independent health-product testing firm, the nutritional content of some brands of coconut water doesn't live up to what's on the label.
Researchers at ConsumerLab.com tested the sodium, potassium, magnesium, and sugar content of three leading brands of coconut water, and they found that only one, Zico Natural, contained the stated amount for all four ingredients.

Health.com: POM-boozled: Do health drinks live up to their labels?
The sugar and potassium content in the other two brands, Vita Coco and O.N.E., also matched the label. But the amounts of sodium and magnesium—two nutrients key to hydration—were as much as 82% and 35% lower, respectively, than the listed amount.
Since the electrolyte content is one of the main selling points of these drinks, thirsty consumers may not be getting what they paid for, says Bonnie Taub-Dix, a registered dietitian and spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association.
"When something like this becomes wildly popular, people have
