Digestive Problems May Be Causing Your Weight Gain!

We are more aware of our digestive system than of any other system in our body due to the numerous messages we receive of hunger, thirst, gas and bowel movements that effect us daily. Eating a well balanced meal and regular exercise are the foundation of a good healthy digestive system. You can easily maintain the wellbeing of your digestive system and

whole body by eating plenty of vegetables and fruit, fibre, and a low intake of animal fats, salt and sugar and even more so eliminate any process or refined foods.
The digestive system consists of the digestive tract and other organs, which include the liver, gallbladder and pancreas which break down food, extract the nutrients and then the elimination of waste and toxic materials. Carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients are absorbed at different points along the digestive tract. Carbohydrate digestion starts in the mouth when saliva begins the breakdown of carbohydrates. Protein digestion is completed when food enters the stomach.
Fibre such as pectin and cellulose help with creating bulk from the digestive left overs and eliminated as feces. Fibre helps to delay the absorption of some molecules like sugar and delays their uptake slowly over time. Fibre binds some fatty substances like cholesterol and helps to prevent over-absorption. fiber helps keep the colon healthy, efficient and helps eliminate toxins.
To improve your digestion try food combining tips like eating more vegetables and fruit foods like beans, lentils and whole grains. Eat fruits like berries, cherries, melon, papaya, pears, peaches, strawberries, mangos on their own as a snack or for increased energy. Eat proteins like meat , fish, eggs with vegetables and no other carbohydrates. avoid all refined or processed foods. no coffee, tea or cigarettes. Try this for a week or so see if your digestion and energy increases. If it does then maybe you should be considering Dr. Hay’s diet of food combining. avoiding chocolate, coffee, and citrus fruits can improve a healthy gut as these can be gut irritants in those that are sensitive to them.
Supplementing with quality vitamin and mineral supplements can help the efficiency of you digestive system. As we get older it is important to take a Zinc supplement and a B-Complex. Zinc and B6 are required for the production of stomach acid (HCI). Vitamin C and magnesium are known to soften the stool and the more fibre in your diet the better the stool will absorb fluids. You should have a bowel movement at least two or three times a day.
