How to reduce your exposure to pesticides from your fruits and vegetables that you buy
When buying fruits and vegetables you should always try to buy organic. The health benefits of fruits and vegetables are very important to the body. If you are unable to purchase organic, then try locally conventionally grown produce. It’s better than not eating them at all. Below is a list of the most contaminated fruits and vegetables conducted by the Environmental Working Group. EWG reports periodically on produce exposed to pesticides. You can visit their site for a full list of fruits and vegetables at www.foodnews.org and see their "dirty dozen" and their "clean 15".
The following are some of the fruits and vegetables most exposed to pesticides and should be purchased organic:
Apples, Celery, Strawberries, Peaches, Spinach, Grapes, Sweet Bell Peppers, Potatoes, Blueberries….
The least exposed are: Onions, Sweet Corn, Pineapples, Avocados, Asparagus, Sweet Peas, Mangoes…
Visit EWG’s site for a complete list. www.foodnews.org.
