You should make it a habit of trying to avoid, drastically reducing the consumption of food with a high sugar content. When we consume an excess of high sugar content foods, the blood sugar level goes out of balance and the body has difficulty returning to a safe level causing
the pancreas has to work overtime and a spike in our insulin levels which causes us to store body fat. Look for hidden sugars in food. Sugar is listed as table sugar, brown sugar, powdered sugar, cane sugar, corn syrup, and sorghum, honey and maple syrup. These are common forms of sucrose. Sugars are also listed as sucrose, glucose dextrose, lactose, maltose and fructose.

Blood Sugar Imbalance. The body keep its level of sugar in balance within a relatively narrow range. When you consume carbohydrates containing sugars and starches , you blood sugar levels increase causing your pancreas to secrete insulin which transports sugar from the blood in to the body’s cells which lowers blood sugar levels. You may want to test and see if you have a problem with balanced blood sugar levels. Try this Glucose-tolerance test:
- Are you rarely wide awake within twenty minutes of rising?
- Do you need a cup of coffee or tea, a cigarette or something sweet to get you going in the morning?
- Do you often feel drowsy or sleepy during the day, or after a meal?
- Do you fall asleep in the early evening or need naps during the day?
- Do you avoid exercise because you do not have the energy?
- Do you get dizzy or irritable if you go six hours without food?
- Is your energy level now less than it used to be?
- Do you get night sweats or frequent headaches?
There are plenty of natural sweeteners on the market that you could use in place of sugar. On of my favorite sweeteners are Organic Blue Agave or Stevia.
